If you’ve experienced trauma or deeply distressing life events, it can often feel like those memories are "stuck" in your body. You might feel a sudden rush of anxiety, a "lump in your throat," or a sense of panic when something reminds you of the past. This is because the brain hasn’t fully processed the memory—it’s still reacting as if the danger is happening right now.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized, evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain finally "digest" those difficult experiences so they no longer hold power over your present.
Instead of just talking about the trauma, EMDR uses "bilateral stimulation" (usually through guided eye movements or gentle tapping). This process:
Lowers the Distress: It reduces the intense emotional and physical "charge" of the memory.
Reprocesses the Narrative: It helps your brain shift from "I am in danger" or "It was my fault" to a healthier, more adaptive belief like "I am safe now" or "I did the best I could."
Builds Resilience: It strengthens your internal sense of calm and confidence.
While many therapists take a basic introductory course in EMDR, I have committed to a rigorous path toward formal Certification. This means I have:
Completed advanced, master-level training beyond the basics.
Undergone extensive hours of direct clinical consultation with EMDR experts.
Conducted hundreds of hours of EMDR sessions with clients.
When we work together, you aren't just getting "a technique"—you are getting a highly refined, specialized approach tailored to your specific healing journey.
EMDR is highly effective for more than just "Big T" trauma. It is an incredible tool for:
Complex Trauma & Childhood Wounds
Postpartum Anxiety & Birth Trauma
Phobias and Panic Attacks
Deep-seated Negative Beliefs (e.g., "I'm not good enough")
